Development Economics
in Göttingen

The Development Economics Research Group at the University of Göttingen explores the major global development challenges that shape economic, political, social, and environmental transformation. Our research spans a wide range of themes, including poverty and inequality, education, health, gender, agriculture, conflict, migration, sustainability, trade, investment, and institutional change. We combine rigorous empirical methods, extensive fieldwork, and international collaborations across two Faculties (Economics/Agriculture) and three University Centers (CeMEAS, CeMig, and CeMIS). Our Research Group contributes to selected teaching activities, including the B.A. Sustainable Development Studies, the M.Sc. Development Economics, and the RTG Sustainable Food Systems doctoral training program. Explore our projects, meet our team, and learn more about our ongoing research initiatives.
